When do the clocks change? Next daylight saving time dates
The next clock change for each country, from the IANA time zone database (tzdata 2025b) — the same data your phone and browser use. Each page has a live countdown, the local time in every area and the dates for 2021–2031.
| Country / region | Next change | Areas that change clocks |
|---|---|---|
| The UK | Sunday 28 March 2027 — clocks go forward one hour | 1 of 1 areas |
| Europe | Sunday 28 March 2027 — clocks go forward one hour | 14 of 16 areas |

Spring forward, fall back
In spring the clocks go forward one hour, so that day has 23 hours and an hour of morning sleep is lost; in autumn they go back, the day has 25 hours and one hour of the night happens twice. Countries north of the equator go forward around March and back around October or November; Australia and New Zealand do the opposite, because their summer falls in December. How each country handles the moment of the change:
- The UK: next change on Sunday 28 March 2027, clocks go forward one hour, at 01:00 local time in each area.
- Europe: next change on Sunday 28 March 2027, clocks go forward one hour, all areas at the same instant, 01:00 UTC.
- The US: next change on Sunday 14 March 2027, clocks go forward one hour, at 02:00 local time in each area.
- Canada: next change on Sunday 14 March 2027, clocks go forward one hour, at 02:00 local time in each area.
- Australia: next change on Sunday 4 April 2027, clocks go back one hour, at different local times in different areas.
- New Zealand: next change on Sunday 4 April 2027, clocks go back one hour, all areas at the same instant, 14:00 UTC.
- Mexico: next change on Sunday 14 March 2027, clocks go forward one hour, at 02:00 local time in each area.

Where the dates come from
The IANA time zone database (tzdata 2025b) records, for every area, each past clock change and the rule for future ones. Phones, computers and browsers ship a copy and update it when a government announces a change. The dates on this site are worked out from those rules for 2021–2031; if a government changes its law, the database — and this site — follow when it is updated.
