Passport photo cropper
Your own photo cropped and scaled so your head fits the official range, exact print size, and a checklist for background, tilt and framing — all on your device. Free preview; HD file and 4×6 print sheet for $3.99.
Red dashed: allowed top-of-head band · blue: chin.
The HD file is the exact size at 300 dpi. The 4×6 in sheet prints at any photo kiosk; cut along the lines.

The receiving office's rules are final. This tool follows the published size rules, but an officer also judges lighting, expression, focus and how recent the photo is. Check the official page linked for your document before you submit. If your photo is refused because of the size or head position we produced, we refund you — see refunds.
How to take a photo that passes
- Stand about 1–1.5 m from the camera with a plain, light wall behind you that matches your document's background rule — the app does not change the background. Ask someone else to take it if you can; arm's-length selfies distort the face.
- Face the camera straight on with your head level, neutral expression, mouth closed, both eyes open. Remove glasses unless your document's rules allow them.
- Light your face evenly from the front (a window in front of you works). Avoid shadows on the face and behind you.
- Leave space above your hair and include your shoulders — the app needs room to crop to the official layout.
What the app does
It finds 478 face points and the outline of your head to measure from chin to the top of your head, then crops and scales your photo so the head sits inside the official range for the document you picked. It never edits the picture itself — no background replacement, retouching or rotation — because several passport offices reject edited photos. The checklist shows whether head height, eye line (where a rule exists), framing, head tilt, background and resolution look right.

Not offered yet
- Germany passport: Head height is measured without the hairstyle (“ohne Berücksichtigung der Frisur”); our tool measures to the top of the hair.
- France passport / identity photo: Head height is measured excluding hair (“hors cheveux”); our tool measures to the top of the hair.
- Australia passport: The official guidance says “No retouching of any kind”, and we have not confirmed that cropping a home photo is accepted.
- Turkey passport / id card biometric photo: The official sources give head-size figures that do not agree with each other, so we cannot size it reliably.
- Singapore passport: The official page restricts edited photos (“Please note that your photograph must not be altered or enhanced in any way. This includes the modification of facial fe”), so we do not offer it.
- Taiwan (ROC) passport: The official page restricts edited photos (“Alteration of the digital image is not permitted. Resampling of the original image or alteration of the image's size bef”), so we do not offer it.
- Malaysia visa (ESD VTR/VDR): This photo is uploaded online with a “Maximum photo size is 25kb” limit, but the official sample gives no pixel size, so we cannot produce a matching file.
- United Kingdom passport: The official page says printed photos must be “unaltered by computer software” and printed to a professional standard. For a UK online application, use GOV.UK's own photo upload.
- Canada passport: The official page says the photo must not be “altered or edited in any way”, including with photo editing software and AI tools. Use a photographer for Canadian passport photos.
- Schengen area (EU) visa: The official page does not state both the photo size and a head-height range in millimetres or inches.
- India passport: The rule says the face takes up 80–85% of the photograph without saying whether that is height or area, so we cannot size it reliably.
- China visa: The official page does not state both the photo size and a head-height range in millimetres or inches.
- South Korea passport: Head height is measured from the top of the head excluding hair; our tool measures to the top of the hair, so we cannot guarantee this rule yet.
Privacy
Your photo stays in this browser tab. The face and person-outline models (Google MediaPipe, Apache 2.0) are downloaded from this site once and run locally; they are only used to measure, never to edit your picture. If you buy the HD file, the finished photo is kept in this browser's storage while you pay, so it is ready when you come back — it is not sent to us or to PayPal.
