Push-up counter
Free push-up counter using your camera. It counts a rep when your elbows bend past 90° and straighten again, and warns when your hips sag. Runs in the browser; no video upload, no sign-up.
Set up the camera (side-on, camera at floor level)
- Place the phone on the floor or a low step 1.5–2 m to your side, lens at about shoulder height when you are in the plank.
- Turn so the camera sees your side: shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip and ankle.
- Landscape orientation fits a push-up better than portrait.
How the counter decides what counts
A push-up counts when your elbow angle (shoulder–elbow–wrist) goes down to 90° or less and back up to 155° or more. Bending past 120° without reaching 90° is shown as not deep enough. If the line shoulder–hip–ankle bends below 150°, the app says “Keep your hips in line”.
These are our counting rules for the app, not an official standard. Angles come from Google MediaPipe pose landmarks and can be off by several degrees with loose clothing or poor light.
Form points
- Hands slightly wider than shoulders, fingers forward.
- Keep a straight line from head to heels — squeeze your glutes and brace your stomach.
- Lower your chest until your elbows are bent about 90°, then press back up.
Common problems
- Hips sagging or piking up: watch for the hip-line cue.
- Camera too high: from above, the elbow angle looks wrong. Keep the lens low.
- Partial reps at the end of a set: the “not deep enough” counter tells you when fatigue cut your range.
Exercise at your own risk and stop if you feel pain or dizziness. This app counts movements; it is not medical or physiotherapy advice.
